I haven't kept up with Assange; but, let me play devil's advocate...No matter how right he is, did he indeed do something wrong that could interfere with government security?
Sometimes, it's not enough to be right if you overstep legal boundaries; thus, his dilemma.

how it has morphed into everyone being ok with it, and not demanding it stop...
is beyond me.
It's a catch-22 really...Personally, AI is like a genie out of the bottle.
Millennials never knew a time when cameras weren't watching their every move so are quite comfortable with pedestrian cams, et al.
And, the thought of AI in the home is quite a complexity; but, Alexa is like another family member for many...smh...not to mention smart fridges, etc.
