Should U.S. Citizens Be Preparing for a Nuclear War?

During the Cold War, U.S. Citizens were very aware of the nuclear threat that was looming at the time. Educational videos were watched, bomb shelters were constructed, supplies and food were stored, and silly drills took place. Citizens were basically instructed to become preppers. But in today's dumbed-down media age, preppers are ridiculed as crazy conspiracy theorists. People are discouraged and threats are ignored. I don't think anyone in my circle of friends and family even preps or plans for a natural disaster. And honestly, most of them probably don't even plan what they're going to eat tomorrow.

The U.S. government and media refuse to mention that a nuclear war could be right around the corner, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin who in July gave a warning to the media. And it has been reported that Russia is preparing for nuclear war. So what gives? Is it because we American's are such babies now that they would expect the government to provide everything for us? Or maybe its just the current election cycle. Putin has also stated that if Hillary Clinton becomes president a war is eminent. But the media's only coverage of Russia makes them out to be a bunch of crazy hackers and Trump's best friend, feeding him information about Hillary and the DNC.  They probably would rather distract us from the fact that we don't have a solid defense if we were to enter in to war with a top military power.

So, what should we believe? Personally, I worry about this. It doesn't consume my every thought, but I honestly don't know what I would do if a nuclear strike happened tomorrow. Other than probably get killed or at the least become very ill. I do have a few basic supplies such as food storage and water filtration. But where would I go? How would I find my family or friends? How would I survive long-term? I think theses are things every U.S. Citizen should be thinking about and planning for. The world seems very unstable right now, not to mention the looming economic collapse just hanging around in the background somewhere. Just something to think about. Are you prepared?
