Exactly, I usually tell people to take note of what narrative or message politicians and mainstream media are incessantly repeating and know that more often than not the truth is actually the oppositeof that. The best way to know is to talk to the people that the mainstream media is trying to be a global mouthpiece for.. talk to them and see if the stories you are hearing match. From my many conversations, interviews and articles I can tell you I have had people frustratingly tell me that what is being shown on TV is not true.. and that's a big reason why I do what I do.. to give these people, the ones that are suffering the most, a voice.
