The government is an addict

Our governments are addicted to secrecy.
Not the sort of thing we think of as an addiction, but just like the neighbor hooked on meth, the government makes choices it would not choose without its drug. We the people, would not accept endless war designed to reduce us to the lowest common denominator of fear and poverty. We wouldn't accept leaders who indulge in fetishes that hurt anyone, let alone children. And we wouldn't pay for research we will never benefit from.
It started out innocent enough. "Loose lips sink ships". It was wartime, and there were spies listening. But the war ended, and things had been done that would cause embarrassment and firings. But secrecy lends feelings of control. Control feels good. So other excuses were found for secrecy. As time passed without a big exposure a new generation took the helm. But the rules changed. Choices may still be moral, but gone is the fear of blowback. At this point those government positions start to attract darkness. Only a small percentage of the population are psychopaths, yet high level positions like corporate CEOs and high levels government bureaucrats are dominated by psychopaths.
The proof is right in front of us. A definition of a free country is one in which the government obeys the will of the people. Yet time after time we elect leaders who say what we want to hear, then do the opposite. Now its reached the point It's clear that the US government is being dominated by blackmail. I'd like to know who holds that blackmail library.
But too many people see this and are sick of it. The exposure of corruption is reaching a tipping point as more and more leaks reach the alternate media.
Interesting times indeed.

Very concerning. Unfortunately there is not so much we can do about it.
