Park Geun-hye President of South Korea becomes first president to be removed from office.

The eight-member bench of the South Korean Constitutional Court on Friday unanimously voted in favor of a Dec. 9 legislative motion to impeach President Park Geun-hye, making her the country’s first president to be impeached and dismissed from office before termination of a five-year tenure largely for disregard for constitutional duties and laws.
“Given her role in hiding corruptions of the people around her and lack of cooperation during the impeachment trial, we’ve concluded that the defendant (President Park) has not the will to respect and uphold the Constitution,” Acting Chief Justice Lee Jung-mi said in a 21-minute verdict reading that was closely watched by 50 million people of the country that had been plagued by the scandal since September.
“The Constitution is a value everyone including the president must uphold and respect,” she said.

Park has not left the Presidential residence or made any comments on the Constitutional Court's ruling to unseat her Friday amid subsequent violent rallies by her supporters.

He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead there at around 1:50 p.m., according to the police. The other man, also surnamed Kim, 60, was found unconscious at a subway station near the court at around 12:15 p.m., police said. At least 10 more have been taken to hospitals for injuries as of Friday at 5 p.m., with two of them unconscious, the police said.

Kim Kwang-bae, who lost a son to the Sewol ferry incident on April 16, 2014, said he finally felt a sense of relief.
"Nothing happened after he died," he said. "What happened today will be the beginning of finding the culprits behind the incident and bringing them to justice."
