The Day After

I can't help but reflect on how I was feeling a year ago, the day after the election. Disbelief consumed my entire being as I realized who was going to be "leading" the United States for the foreseeable future.

This year has been challenging. Constantly being triggered, getting used to the weight of an aching heart, balancing engaging in self-care and engaging in visible resistance.

It is with these reflections that I want to share a graphic I created by merging a photo from Toa Heftiba on Unsplash with some rules of engagementPresident Obama came out with during his keynote address during the Obama Foundation Summit.

    I think number 2 is my favorite rule - even though it's mega hard. It sounds a lot to me like "when they go low, we go high" and I remember feeling so inspired when I heard Michelle Obama say that this time last year.
