It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.
Hopefully this serves as a warning to other mainstream media outlets on both sides of the political spectrum that you cannot lie and spin with impunity forever. Eventually even the brain-dead will get sick of your shit.
And you definitely cannot threaten to dox people because they made fun of you, ya big babies.
I doubt that the media as a whole will heed this warning though, I think they'll carry on as they are until they're replaced by alternative media. They've been acting this way for so long now that they probably know no other way.

I hope it serves as a warning to other media. What they did went way, way too far and was possibly illegal. Then they tried to backtrack. "We didn't actually threaten him, we just never promised not to reveal his identity." No, that's not what your article said at all CNN. Sigh.
Yeah, it was a clear threat, not even a veiled threat. It was done as a warning to all meme makers "We can find you and dox you".
It was disgusting, especially as in the same article they admitted doxxing him would put him in danger.
Exactly. This particular meme creator is probably too terrified to ever try suing them, but if they try this on someone else, they might find someone who isn't so scared next time. It would be interesting to see how the courts would rule. I still can't believe they went this far.
