Heroin and welfare

If you want to make money selling heroin to people their's a proven method for doing just that. You simply have to give the first or the first few hits for free. Once your future customer is hooked he will go to almost any length to get his fix. You now have a person who is dependent on your product. Granted some of your free hits will go to waste since some people don't get addicted as easy as others but every addict you help create is a big breadwinner for you.

So why am I writing this article you might ask your self. Do I want more people to be dependent? It's actually the other way around. This strategy can be used in other circumstances than the drug business. Say you're a politician for example. Let's say your motivation for being a politician is that you want to change society for the better (I think some politicians are partially motivated by this going into politics). To achieve your goal (changing society thru politics) you have to get into power. In a democracy that means getting votes, it is your primary focus, a necessary first step to reaching your goal.

All politicians have figured out that people like to get something for nothing, some politicians have figured out that once people get dependent on "free" stuff they tend to vote for the politician that promises to keeps the gravy coming. Let's say you promise the voters that they will get unemployment benefits in case they get fired or have trouble finding a job. Once the benefits are in place some people might not try that hard to get or keep a job. It might look like a pretty sweet deal to sit in front of your tv or computer all day or do what ever you feel like instead of going to work.

So just like the people getting free heroin, some will get used to it and they will not want to acquire skills that could bring value to others which is what you need to get a job. They get dependent on this check and if any politician threatens to take away his source of income he will vote for the other politician who promises to keep the checks coming even if the government can't really afford to pay all these people for not working. I'm not saying everyone gets trapped in welfare, some get benefits for a while and then get a job but some get dependent. If you're a politician it will be easy for you to get the votes of people who are dependent on the government.
