Here you have a President of the worlds most powerful nation, on stage at the UN uttering these, what are in my ears, bizarre words.
Why on Earth would President Reagan use the words 'Alien' and 'Threat'... was he privy to top secret information about the existence of aliens? My thoughts: Yes of course he was 'In the know'.
During a speech before the United Nations in 1987, President Ronald Reagan spoke longingly for the world unity that would happen if aliens invaded Earth.

He said:
“Perhaps we need some outside universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world.”
One of the truly weirdest things he ever said in public.
Some might argue that he didn't choose his words carefully, or that he was 'just having a laugh' at our expense. I disagree, it seems more like he is either warning us for future events or he was mocking us.

My personal take, just to clarify a few things, is that the man was put in a place of power and said some incredible things which make a lot of sense - just not coming from a the CEO of a country. Was he against government? But he WAS the government!
Was he one of the only presidents that worked FOR the people...

Yes Reagan was a proponent of small government.. I'm not sure if you're being funny or if you truly think its crazy to say that a smaller government is better.
To clarify: the bit where he said "Man is not free unless government is limited." is the only thing he said that makes sense! A few others were good too ...
Just found another good one "Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." - isn't that true. But throughout is 'reign', what happened with the taxes - did they go down?
