Are you voting for the lesser evil?

in #politics8 years ago

In the United States the presidential election season is upon us once again. Neither of the major candidates are moral figures. Yes, this one has that failing, and the other something else. Essentially, they are the same on the fundamentals: Pro big government; Pro war; Pro security at the cost of yet more "freedoms" for U.S citizens.

Yet, there is this talk of voting for the lesser evil as if it matters. In the very act of democratic voting one is both "choosing" a leader, and submitting to the winner. So while you may vote for the lesser evil, your participation says that you consent to being ruled by the greater. Isn't that the way the games played? You got a "voice" in government, now democracy says you must salute your new president.

Perhaps a better question the American people need to ask is not "Who am I going to vote for?", but rather "What am I going to stand for?"

I am still undecided as to who I will vote for. No one has earned my vote yet.

For now I am concentrating on the under-ticket, House of Representatives and Senate. The people who may have a chance to keep the government in check.
