Encryption is an important tool in the digital world, especially the distributed nature of the Internet. We all use encryption, even unknowingly, to visit web pages, to purchase something online, when you swipe your credit card, and even when you talk-in-code with your friends or significant other. It is part of our digital lives. Encryption is a tool, not inherently good or bad, just a tool. How that tool is used can be judged as good/bad.
