Politics, meet blockchain

12 Aug 7:29
The need:
Our elected officials are no longer for the people. Corporate and political interests drive their actions. Their cooperation is rewarded with campaign contributions and comfortable private-sector positions upon retirement.

Some voters have become disengaged. Others support extreme candidates in hope for some change. And our countries are being ruined.

The vision:
An aspiring politician makes this proposal to voters:

"In every significant decision that I make, I will vote exactly as the majority of you indicate. We will use a web and phone app to do this efficiently. Your votes and my votes will be transparent for all to see."

The app:
Politician posts an upcoming Issue that he must vote on.
Private political analysts may attach their opinions to the Issue. Voters may upvote or follow analysts whose analysis they trust.
Votes are recorded on the blockchain, available for audit.
Votes must be anonymous but provably legal. Voters must be able to verify that their vote was counted. This involves oracles, contracts, voting records as public keys, etc.
