MY COMPROMISE: Fight, struggle and resistance

MY COMPROMISE

I do not mean a ring on the finger of a lady or my responsibilities with a job, I mean my conviction that to conquer a new Venezuela, we must change the current political system, not only speak of the Maduro regime but of the way in which political dynamics are generated.

In this post, I will review the political situations in which I have participated and have made me understand that we will not achieve FREEDOM by blocking streets or listening to the politicians of before, we need to change the way of doing politics and give way to a new generation that really wants to do different things and will use power better.

2014 - THE END

The first year of Maduro was in power, shortages began to appear, insecurity increased and the regime began to show its dictatorial characteristic through its actions.

Personally I had never been involved in any demonstration until I happened to run into a march on February 12, 2014 and decided to join it. That's how it all started.

At the Universidad de Oriente we decided to take to the streets, we protested for 3 months just like the rest of the country; the dictatorship was against the ropes and the opposition made the mistake of sitting down to talk with the murderers of more than 47 young people who gave their lives for Venezuela, they cooled down the streets and won chavism.

2015- PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS

Once the street cooled, I felt I wanted to continue protesting, the politicians did nothing, it is as if they had been silent and the death of so many young people had not happened. I had heard of the elections that would be held in December but I kept thinking as a member of the resistance.

My friend @ andresrivas95 invited me to participate in the Student Movement and as an organization committed to political change I decided to accept his invitation, understanding that Venezuela needed the participation of all sectors so that democracy would triumph and I started to do politics as a student.

In May 2015, I discovered that there was a candidate from a new political organization who professed an ideology different from that of socialism promoted by almost all traditional parties. His name is Luis Tarbay, a human rights lawyer and part of Vente Venezuela, a liberal party in which I still participate and I firmly believe.

Although we lost the internal elections of the opposition, we managed to demonstrate to the old politicians, that the youth can change the system, because the results were quite closed and we started at a disadvantage by opposing several candidates with a long career and a lot of money to give away in your campaigns.

On December 6, the great day arrived and the hope of change triumphed, we were facing one of the greatest electoral victories in the history of our country. Pity that in the end the masks of many opponents fell and the following year they showed that they were also part of the problem that has our country in this serious situation.

2016 - THE REFERENDUM AND THE BETRAYAL

The period of command of the new national assembly elected by more than 6 million Venezuelans began, it was promised that in six months they would remove the dictatorship through constitutional mechanisms and everything remained in words, I participated day and night in each activity, but Our supposed leaders allowed the regime to postpone the recall referendum and trample our constitution once again with repression and death to anyone who raised its voice.

Disappointed and persecuted, I decided to leave the Island of Margarita and move to the city of San Cristóbal, Táchira State, where I would focus on my studies and away from politics.

2017 - PROTESTS VS. INDIFFERENCE

Once in the city of San Cristóbal I enrolled in the Catholic University with the certainty that, as a private institution, the classes would be continuous and without interruptions. As for politics, I felt that I would never participate again, that my hope for change had disappeared.

Everything started very well, until I discovered that the UCAT (Catholic University of Tachira) is one of the academies most attacked by the dictatorship and once the first attack against the students happened, I could not avoid putting on my mask and defending that one It was my new school house.

At the end of March, once again the regime attacks democracy and makes the supreme court of justice (illegal) assume the functions of the National Assembly, a call to the streets is made and I recovered the courage to continue fighting thanks to my new friends , who despite living the previous betrayals, remained firm with their dreams and hopes, if they were still fighting for a FREE Venezuela, I would also do it.

Said and done, I called the street and although I often participated alone, I understood the risk I was running when I was in a new place I did not know. During one of the marches I met a person identified with the logo of the liberal party that I support (VENTE VENEZUELA) and I introduced myself, I was immediately welcomed and participated in every street activity that was called, I was on the verge of death in three opportunities and I was almost caught by the regime's minions on several occasions.

There were more than 120 days of strength and resistance, mass mobilizations, civic strikes and even the largest citizen consultation event in history. But once again, we lost because of treachery; in July of that year Maduro convened a National Constituent Assembly and elections for Governors (which were late). Although there were many who rejected such a decision and we continued fighting on the street, the checkbook of the regime was able to buy some weak leaders who would break the unity and make the country believe that a dictatorship could be overthrown with votes.

I retired from the streets, decided not to participate more in activities called by some politicians and like many of the young people who gave our lives for freedom, I chose not to believe in the unity table and I joined the student movement.

2018 - PRESENT

I have decided that Venezuela will not be free until we manage to get rid of the bad habits of politics and for that we must support the young leaders, I personally follow and will continue to be part of the change we want to achieve, it was time not to depend of those who only fight for power and personal interests, the time has come for those who will truly conquer the freedom of our nation.
