Peru's President Pedro Kuchinsky said that in an artificially created situation where he was made guilty of what he did not commit, resignation is the best option for the country.

On March 21, the president of Peru, Pedro Kuczynski, in a televised address, announced his resignation. This is reported by Andina.

The statement followed after the accusations of the opposition party "People's Power" about an attempt to bribe deputies to prevent impeachment of Kuchinsky.

The President called the situation "artificially created." He noted that he was allegedly guilty of actions that he did not commit, therefore he considers resignation to be the best option for the country.

Kuchinski was suspected of involvement in the fact that related firms received money from a Brazilian construction company. In December, the parliament could not send him to resign, the agency said.
