Trump Is Not A Threat To This Country

in #politics8 years ago

I like to see things first-hand before forming an opinion so i decided to go to a Donald Trump rally tonight.
I have not voted for over ten years because I was living in Cancun, Mexico for the last decade and just moved back to the U.S. I voted Democrat the last time I voted.
Something has happened to the mainstream media while i was away. Is it just me or is the media slanting their stories in a way that polorize and divide people? I just do not trust the news anymore. I watched a few Trump rallies in their entiy on television and then saw the news outlets talking about one thing Trump said and spinning it into story that demonized him. They completely ignored the main points of his talk and just painted him as a threat to the country. So i went to this rally to see this Trump monster for myself. Folks, I got to say, the media is playing us for fools.

Here's my impression of the rally. First off, the people supporting Trump were all very nice people and represented every race, demographic, age and included both male and female supporters. No one was saying anything that even hinted at hate mongering or racial bias, as the news portrays him and his supporters. I felt like i was at a 4th of July family picnic. There were about 15,000 people there and no problems of any kind.

As we approached the entrance to the rally we filed past a huge gathering of protesters screaming the most hateful obscenities at us. The woman in front of me had small children that almost looked like they were going to cry until she covered their ears and hugged them. But that didn't stop the protesters barrage of insults. They slung so much hate in our direction all the while accusing us of being haters. I felt like i just entered the Twilight Zone. Imagine a mother-in-law from hell, The Adam's Family on meth and crackhead on food stamps screaming bloody murder right in your face until the veins on their necks burst and you'll have a pretty good idea of the scene. I thought for sure someone was going to lose it but, to the Trump supporters credit, no one lost their cool. They just started chanting; USA! USA! To my amazement, the protesters joined them in shouting USA too. It was like a football game cheering for one team. We're all in this country together folks, we shouldn't be fighting each other.

Once we got inside everthing was peaceful. Trump talked about bringing our jobs back and rebuilding our country's infrastructure. Pretty standard political stuff really. Can he really do it? Who knows. The big takeaway I got from the whole experience is the news is full of bullshit. Trump seems to have staunch Republicans freaking out and the mainstream media is downplaying the core issues he discusses on his campaign, while steadily trying to drive a wedge between the citizens of this country. Still don't know who I'm voting for but Trump earned some respect from this Veteran tonight.

thankyou for posting your account of seeing Trump in person. Following you now.

Thanks for the follow.

i have no way of seeing the future. i don't know what trump would do in office but he seems genuine in his desire and in his speech. i think we would be better off if we fired all of the office holders we have now. hillary should be in prison. the only thing i can think is the democrats are running an obvious psychopath and demonizing trump in the press. i don't think the parties, or whoever is inciting them, cares who wins the election. i think someone is trying to spin up a civil war. i see the trump supporters being so peaceful and putting up with everything that is thrown at them. then they are framed as bloodthirsty savages in the media. then, the people who are framed as the benefactors of humanity, the ones who want to save the planet and give everything owned by the wealthy to everyone else. they are acting like maniacs. i don't think a single one of the people screaming "fascist" even knows what it means. they are spitting on people, beating people. the lies, the vitriol, it really looks like an engineered eruption. it looks like the beginning of what i know of the cultural revolution in china. gearing up to get the young left to cut the rest of us down. i hope i am wrong but, that is what it looks like to me.

You know, it sure seems like the media is trying to turm people against each other on so many fronts. True journalism is going extinct and many stories in the news are not even supported by the facts. The sad thing is so many people are believing what the media is spoon feeding them without verifying the story.

i think most people are afraid to know. most of the people that i know. i'm not sure what to do. if i try to have a conversation about anything of substance, they recoil like they were punched in the face. if it is not feeding their immediate pleasure, they want nothing to do with it. the only people i've found who are receptive are here on steemit.

The Media is essentially a State apparatus.

Do you really think so? I don't want to believe it but it sure seems that way. Being out of the country for ten years has given me a new perspective.

I hate to say so, but yeah. Look what happened to Dr. Drew recently, he unfavorably commented on Hillary's health and medical records and the following week CNN cancels his show. Its fucking blatant at this point. I rarely watch the MSM anymore because its such awful, contrived, controlled bullshit.
