On Wednesday, Julio Borges, president of the National Assembly, held a meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, to denounce the Venezuelan institutional crisis, repression and fraud of the National Constituent Assembly.

During the meeting, the deputy for Primero Justicia warned that Chavismo wants to reformulate the 1999 Constitution in order to design a state equal to that of Cuba.

Therefore, he suggested the possibility of considering sanctions against the government of Nicolás Maduro for violations of human rights.

"We are talking about the fact that there are young people tried in military courts, more than 60 people murdered by the repression, 15,000 wounded," he said.

He also said he is promoting the creation of a commission of countries that can carry a diplomatic and democratic agenda of accompaniment in Venezuela. And that another delegation may come to the country to draw up a report on the situation.

"We are at the most relevant moment in all our struggle, which is when we have to have more presence, more solidarity, more pressure to have a democratic outcome in our country," said Borges.

Antonio Tajani asked the president of the Venezuelan Parliament about the dialogue, and the latter replied: "The government is talking about dialogue all day, but it does not comply with the agenda of last year." Yesterday I spoke with Parolin about Venezuela and then I spoke with Their holiness (Pope Francis), they are clear from the agenda, that nothing has been accomplished. Dialogue is no longer an excuse for the government. "
