History is repeating

in #politics7 years ago

That is what I thought when I saw this video from the alt-rights in Charlottesville.

They are even chanting the same stuff as Hitler's SA in 1933. The only difference is that the SA didn't run around with weapons.

There are a lot of things to be very afraid here, but still the illogical mind-bending they do is one of the most horrifying things for me. Like the one guy speaking about he is afraid of the ethnic cleansing of America. After all that happened a few hundred years ago and was done by white man and is what that same guy wants to do again. That is what they are chanting!

Sort:

All this that's going down is only the small beginning of something terrible and large looming on the horizon I'm afraid.

This will not end well. I pray for us all. It's getting frightening out there...

Invite them to a debate where they can use their logic and their tongues and they shall be less inclined to use their weapons.

Communication is the best way to reconcile differences. Let concepts and not people spear themselves upon the armaments of the opposition. Let perspectives rise and fall in service of any given issue, rather than the sons and daughters of any nation falling in the service of a flag.

Let us evolve.

People said that to Hitler too. Lets talk. Hear the points. Think.

Such requires the participation of all involved parties.

After all, 'one' reason why there is so much war in certain quarters of the World is because they do not generally communicate in the same language - and thus their media dehumanization is made all the easier to the populations of invader nations and their cohorts. Opinion Engineering 101.

Had there been a healthy degree of communication external to those nations then people would be more likely to ask questions.

Comparing this to Hitler is a bit out of proportion. It was much more organized, the circumstances were different, the methods were different, the public was in a different position, the background was different. They started as a political party that was elected. Don't compare this with one of the sadest pages of our history.

"Widespread economic misery, fear, and perception of worse times to come, as well as anger and impatience with the apparent failure of the government to manage the crisis, offered fertile ground for the rise of Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party."

Note that I'm not approving anything, just keeping things in context.

No, it started before Hitler got elected. He got elected because (For example the SA formed in 1922 I think out of several right wing groups that were ready for violence and showed that openly. Now look at the video again.)
For the rest lets take your quote, okay?

"Widespread economic misery" - 2008 crisis, still ongoing, lot's of areas with bad job opportunities, leader rallying them under "get jobs back in the country" - checked

"fear" - of the Muslims and the Mews and the Soros - checked

"and perception of worse times to come" - Ee will lose our jobs! We will lose our country! Ethnic cleansing my muslim terrorist! - checked

"as well as anger and impatience with the apparent failure of the government to manage the crisis" - do I need to comment on this? - checked

See, all your points of what gave rise to Hitler are 100% fulfiilled

You're taking it out of context. There always is fear (of the future), there is always disbelief in the government,...

The Weimar Republic unemployment was over 30%, compared to US 5% and US economy is doing well.

The US unemployment is even more rigged then our German ;)

Anyway this is not what you have to look at. You are talking logical points. But the Nazis or the Neonazis are not being logical.

The see that the Rich (which they equal with jews and banking) get richer (which is true) while they get poorer - which is also objectivly true for the last 10-20%.
An for those that are still "middle class" they fear to drop down - which is also based on reality numbers, since the middle class is shrinking because the differences between low and top get bigger.

And for the t of context I friendly, but strongly disagree. Maybe I don't know enough about the US situation. But for me it looks very very similar. All I hear I already have heard and seen from the old Nazis.

btw. I just see this on twitter, so take it with a ;)

Welp, I always say demonstrations don't lead anywhere but to violence.

That is not true.

But if course if you go there with guns and shields and bulletproof vests and say you are ready to kill.... someone will get killed.

Please elaborate how going out in the street with people that already agree with you and shouting dumb catch phrases helps any true political discourse or dialog. :)

And ofc violent protests is the worst form. The Antifa also used bottles and balloons filled with feces as weapons according to @dwinblood. So it is not like there was only one weaponized side. The shields are a representation btw that they see themselves as defenders and not agressors.

Of course, everyone is defender. Thats why we have a defense ministry not a war ministry ;)

You didn't talk about "true" political discourse or dialog. you said that violence is the result. That are two very different things.

Normally voicing the political opinion leads to less violence. That is even true if it comes to some violence at the demo, because he pressure is out.

Of course what was in Charlottesville more looked like a pressure cooker and that environment breeds violence on both sides.

Oh I guess this was party a misunderstanding. I meant that most demos don't lead to any significant change, but sometimes violence hence I said "they only lead to violence. " I did not mean to say that they always lead to violence.

that environment breeds violence

that is pretty much exactly what I mean. I have seen videos of people actually discussing problems controvercially while respecting each other. This was very rare footage though.

Demonstrations often feel like a shouting contest and I would argue that you generally see more demonstrations that are just against something without really offering a thought through alternative.

The USA is not a 'white country', it is a nation of immigrants. No-one has the right to complain about ethnic cleansing in the USA, except for the native americans who were ethnically cleansed by the immigrants.
History however does not justify the same acts in the present.

History however does not justify the same acts in the present.

Too bad people do not get this. And as long as they don't get it, there will be no end of fighting. Because there are always more groups that got kicked then are the ones kicking at the moment.

It is the same with Israel. Somewhen in history Jews kicked someone out of the area. Then they got kicked out and so on. Then the palestinians where there and got kicked out by the jews coming from all over the world to create Israel state.

But that some dead Isreaelis where kicked out there 2 millenia ago does not make it good that the palestinians were kicked out or put into ghettos. At the same time, today, it is not right to kick out the Israelis that were born there.
As long as Israel does not stop building more settlements, there will be no peace. And even then I doubt the sides will get together. Too much blood.

There can be peace, in the British Isles we have seen it in Northern Ireland. It requires that people from all sides participate equally on a political solution, while anyone is disadvantaged it can never work.

Yes it is...but remember who had a legal permit to protest...ANTIFA are the new Nazi Party

You mean ANTIFA had no right to protest?

You mean they are the ones threatening to kill people just because they were born somehwere else or look like they were born somwhere else?

Cant watch it, too many references to the oxymoron "racism / racist" colour does not divide us, retarded attitudes do. The correct word should be prejudice, but they have an agenda, speech and thought control is what it is...
The only concern i have is that the planet will have no black or white people in a few generations, as the powers that be are trying to breed us into equality of skin tone, imagine how sad and boring the world would be if we were all the same :(

Yeah, like redheads and blondes. We will have to color our skin in a millenia!!

Not that I could care about what skin color my 10th descendent has. This is simply no reason for anything.

I care, maybe its foolish but its who I am, I quite like the diversity although if my daughter ever came home with a coloured man, his feet wouldn't touch the ground ;)
