A pure democracy doesn't protect the citizenry from factions arising but a republic does by making radical/extreme political leaders difficult to get elected.
The simplicity from having elected leaders creates better representation without a straightforward path to tyranny.
Mhh interesting. Inwonder if this. Can be applied to the governance structure of cryptocurrencies.
