New acting FBI director contradicts White House on Comey
Andrew McCabe, newly-appointed Acting FBI Director, rejected assertions by the White House today that FBI employees had lost faith in James Comey, saying, "I hold Director Comey in the absolute highest regard. I have the highest respect for his considerable abilities and his integrity."
He told members of the Senate intelligence committee that Comey, who was fired by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, enjoyed "broad support within the FBI and still does to this day."
McCabe also guaranteed that the FBI investigation into links between Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and the Trump campaign would continue, and further stated that the White House had not yet impeded the investigation (beyond the actual firing of Comey, that is).
Do you believe the firing of Comey was motivated by a desire to end the Russia investigation? Or was it just a byproduct of the chaotic decision-making process within the White House? Will McCabe stand up to Trump when the going gets tough?
