TOP Politics = Transparent, Open & Public Politics!
One of the ideas that I read up on back in the day was all about transparent, open and public politics.
After a few years of dwelling on it, trying to make heads and tails of it in the world that we live in, I finally filed it away in the HDD on my shoulders and said to myself "Can't be done with the way things work in this world".
Now, after discovering CRYPTO and how the blockchain works, I have pulled out this dusty file folder and started reading through all the materials again.
Transparent, Open and Public (TOP) Politics
Can it be achieved within the realm of the world wide web, within the opportunities that are now available with CRYPTO and the blockchain technology?
Rather than go into a thesis about all this, I am still sticking to my guns as far as real life goes and am a firm believer of the following:
"ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS"
So, what then does the idea of TOP Politics encompass as far as actions go?
This would be the practical approach to discussing this notion.
I have dug up some texts from back in the day and this is what defines TOP Politics through actions:
1.0. Transparent Open Public Action
The categories of transparent, open and public action are interconnected i.e. it's not an exclusive classification. Still, they supplement each other since none of them embraces the whole field needed by this idea.
1.1. Transparent Action
Transparent action is action which is transparent to its participants, i.e. intelligible, clear and understandable.
If a person, organization or option wants to act transparent it has to ensure full transparency of its action. This includes publishing, explaining and documenting appropriate documents of its vision, mission and goal statements of action including plans and strategies on how to accomplish them. This documents also include discussion templates, results, conclusions etc. The main goal of transparent action is a elaborated, total and integral decision making process? transparent and available to the public.
A person, organization or option should have a public forum where the public can comment the persons, organizations or options action. This forum must have a fully non censored public part which is continuously and in a line on-line available. Information on this forum should be public according to the definition in this document and allways available for later references.
1.2. Open Action
Open action is such action on which the public has influence i.e. action which can be changed by the public under the condition that the result of such a change is open again. Open action gives every person, option or organization the opportunity of process involvement. If some person, option or organization wants to act open, it has to insure continuous contact and discussion with the public. This is in accordance with the concept of a forum where the public has the opportunity to discus and where every single individual is involved through a clearly distinguishable criteria. Every document created through transparent and public action is thus openstanding. Every person, option or organization should take every meaningful critique, suggestion, comment and idea of the public, discus it and, if they find it usefull, include it an the appropriate document.
1.3 Public Action
Public action is such action which is available to the public, allways and at will and which is oriented to the public. If a person, option or organization wants to act public it has to insure continuous public availability of information about their action.
Public available information is information which is publicly available in a clearly articulated form. This information should be available to everyone interested in it over the Internet. This information can be available through other mediae but the Internet is obligatory. Any official action should be documented in the appropriate document.
Conclusion
A person, option or organization is TOP and can thus become known to the public as such? if its action is transparent, open and public according to the above listed criteria and has an elaborated integral decision making process.
So, after reading this, I still pose the question from the beginning of my post:
CAN IT BE DONE?
The technology is new so anything is possible.
The end of the opaque society we are forced to live in would be the biggest force for freedom the world has ever seen, an end to corruption and mass manipulation would be possible.
However if you were a criminal elite currently living off the parasitical system would you want that?
Or would you do anything you could to ensure that never happened?
I am sure that "they" shall adapt to the new criteria and ensure that they do not lose a position of "power", however, this is all relevant as we see in the former eastern block nations, sooner or later things do start changing!
Interesting topic @jackmiller. I think it is definitely something worth trying at least.
When I worked in the public service I took the view that all my actions and correspondence would become public at some point. I tried to be transparent and took the hypothetical that I might need to stand up in a coronial enquiry some day and be able to put hand on heart and explain everything I had done.
That said I also frequently fell victim to being too transparent. If I was open about my intentions or plans I would often get people deliberately putting in roadblocks or white-ant-ing me along the way if they didn't agree with me.
So perhaps not full transparency in real time, but maybe a delay. A bit like how the CIA is supposed to release its files after 30 years, but on a much shorter time scale.
I really like to know why we're so late in decentralized government. Can the people run the government via blockchains instead of the congress? Can laws be created by polls through blockchains? blockchain voting/polls might work well, wouldn't you think so?
The possibilities are countless, that is my conclusion as to blockchain technology.
Our only limitations, boundaries and obstacles are within our own habitual minds and ways of thinking, our perceptions as to where the "borders" are.
I see a lot of potential to broaden our horizons as the old saying goes.

True, many questions need to be considered, but we do see that what wasn't possible lets say one decade ago is now something that we can look at and see it as becoming a reality.

Look, we need to be realistic.
Your point may be valid, but by the time all the nations of this earth are ready for it, by then we could very well have some extraterrestrial technology available that shall make what we have now look like a Commodore 64 in comparison to the technology of today.
Lets not get carried away! That is all I am saying, with so many people still under some form of dictatorship and totalitarian rule, no matter what the "ideology may be based on", it may seem an overwhelming task to take on.
Likewise, there is the reality that @tremendospercy mentioned! (ref his comment in this thread).
We still have all sorts of secrets being kept by all the governments, secrets that are half a century old, some even older, meaning that they have had them for that long and kept them from us.
Too many years of "mushroom politics" as I like to refer to it, "keep the people in the dark and feed them shit".
We do need to start making real moves towards change, but we do not need to be overdosed with enthusiasm to the point where we start losing touch with the reality that we face.
However, yes, I do agree with you as far as my wording, I should have added that as a follow up question.
