World's most exposed to tear gas community
This Palestinian Aida refugee camp in the southern occupied West Bank is the most exposed to tear gas community in the world according to a recent study.
It is found in the survey that 100% of the 236 surveyed Palestinian residents in Aida camp were exposed to tear gas at least once over the past year and 84.3% of them were exposed to gas while they were at their home.
This refugee camp is one of the world's most densely populated place in the world as it is home of more than 6,400 Palestinian refugees & it covers only 0.017 square kilometers.
Tear gas is used to cause victim's eyes to water and his skin to burn.
In 2014, Aida camp's resident & a 45-year-old Palestinian, Noha Qatamish died due to tear gas inhalation after Israeli forces fired the chemical canisters of this weapon into her home.
This survey was took by the Human Rights Center of Barkley's University of California.
In another report the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) estimated that at least 376 clashes between Palestinian Aida camp's refugees & Israeli forces took place between January 2014 & December 15 of this year in Aida refugee camp.
