Some of the most dishonest email messages sent out to Americans every day are issued by politicians.

Exhibit A: In an email sent out early today, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed:
“Republicans have proved time and time again that they will NEVER put Americans first.”

Really? Is that true? And if Republicans don’t put Americans first, then who are they putting first? Who do they work for other than Americans? Is the GOP working for Putin and the “Russkies”? For Xi Jinping and the “Chicoms”?

If Pelosi is to be believed, then the ongoing conflict between Dems and Reps is not between two groups of loyal Americans who differ over their visions for the future of our country. Rather, it’s a conflict between America-loving Democrats and unpatriotic Republicans.

Perhaps what Nancy and her team meant was that Republicans favor some Americans more than others, which, of course, they do, just as Democrats favor some Americans more than others. But that’s not what Pelosi’s email states. And while I seriously doubt that she writes her own fund-raising emails, shouldn’t she at least read them before sending them out? Did she approve this message?

If she did read and approve it, then the sooner the House Democrats find a new leader – one who can relate to the GOP as “the loyal opposition” rather than as traitors – the better off America will be, the better off Congress will be, and perhaps even the better off the Democratic Party will be.
