This is a very insightful post. It's so hard to tell what is genuine news and what is subtly persuading you to a particular way of thinking.
I personally try to be objective and question the context of statistics that are stated as "proof" but even then I still find myself getting swept along by the media's opinion manipulation.
I agree. Ultimately it should come down to our sense of right and wrong, not winning an intellectual debate. How manipulated must we be when people become convinced that poverty is a choice and those less fortunate are leeches on the rest of us.
