CARACAS (AP) - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro pledged on Thursday to give full guarantees for this year's presidential election, a demand that had been initially raised by the opposition coalition and would lead to the meeting with the pro-government delegates in the Dominican Republic.

Maduro also said during an act in the government palace that his negotiators are instructed to advance the meeting with the opponents in the comprehensive agreements for the defense of the economy and the protection of the economic and social rights of Venezuelans.

The president indicated that he hoped that in the meeting that will be held between Thursday and Friday in the Dominican Republic a "primary agreement" will be reached between the government and opposition delegates.

The delegate and opposition deputy Luis Florido informed the negotiators at the third meeting with representatives of the government in Santo Domingo.

The process began in September on the Caribbean island with the support of the Dominican authorities and several Latin American foreign ministers.

"We demand an agreement that allows free elections in Venezuela!" Florido said in a message on his Twitter account, adding that representatives of the opposition alliance will also demand the opening of a humanitarian channel in Venezuela, the release of all prisoners. politicians and the cessation of political disqualifications

Hi Eric, I am not too much into political developments, but I am surely interested what your president is going to do with his planned Petro cryptocurrency ;-) Hope you will update us with the local developments ;-)

Still, I, of course, wish the very best to your country, especially full democracy and economic prosperity!
