A Current Narrative That Is Popular in The Media is that the United States National Anthem is White Supremacist... Really? I'm going to look as I write this.

I am struggling to recall any words to the National Anthem that are White Supremacist. Though it has been a long time since I've really looked in detail. I do know the National Anthem was basically a repurposed version that was different before it became the national anthem. Though I haven't actually investigated the lyrics in a long time.

I also haven't heard anyone ask them "which words" they just state it is white supremacist and I don't see people asking how, where, etc.?

So I am writing this rambling post and I want to check myself.

Here is the national anthem:

The Star Spangled Banner

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,

In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave'
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

That there is the national anthem. Let's see. Is there anything white supremacist hidden in there?

Nope. I don't see a single reference to any race white, or otherwise anywhere in those lyrics.

So if that is white supremacist then pretty much ANYTHING can be white supremacist. Even breathing.

Oh there is one line in there:
No refuge could save the hireling and slave'

Which does not mention color. There have been white slaves in U.S. history, and all other skin tones. So this is not a white supremacist statement. Yet, if I were someone who had to try to spin anyone or anything I can possibly think of to push race baiting and division then that is something I might latch onto and try to spin. I'd be lying, but some people don't care whether they are ethical, truthful, or not as long as they are furthering their agenda.
