Hack Democracy: The solution to voter fraud

The solution to voter fraud.

What happens if voting is made public and transparent?  What if in order to get your vote counted, you had to publicly put your name behind your vote and you had to, in essence, stand up and directly declare your support among your peers?  I think it could be argued that if you care more about peer opinion than who you vote for, then you yourself don't really back your own vote in a meaningful way.

How public internet voting works

An internet site is set up that allows people to log on and cast their vote publicly.  Transaction block chains would leave a solid trail of modifications, and any time you choose, you can check the public record and verify that it is precisely how you voted.  Voting occurs in phases:

-INITIAL VOTING PHASE

-A block of time where log there vote into public record

-VOTE DISCREPANCY RESOLUTION PHASE

-A block of time where transactions to public record are frozen and citizens have the duty to verify their vote.  The only changes that are allowed are for discrepancies claimed by citizens against the public record.  These are corrected by physical verification at voting stations.

-FINAL COUNT PHASE

    - counting may be conducted by anyone and everyone who chooses to because it is public record.

The vote discrepancy check makes it relatively unimportant if individual accounts are hacked because it is the duty of the citizen to verify their vote.  During the discrepancy resolution process, a citizen is physically matched to their vote account and it is corrected and logged for investigation.

Privacy

I think secret voting, such as what occurs now, should be considered controversial and potentially a conflict of interest to the duties of a voting citizen.  However, if it is decided that secrecy is desirable, for say, reasons of social or physical intimidation, it isn't a problem.  The same system is used, except a public/private key encryption system is used to anonymize voters.  Account lockout or vote discrepancy is still corrected during the vote discrepancy resolution phase.

Hack that, bitches

Sort:

I disagree with this sentiment. First off it is entirely possible to vote with blockchain and retain privacy.

If you make voting public, votes can be bought and voters can be threathened.

But thank you for voting and sharing your thoughts.

knircky, it is only one page. In the last paragraph, I agree that public voting is a controversial topic and I supply a private solution as well. With respect, your reply shows you didn't make it to the last paragraph.
