The Republican Congress Is At It Again - Attempt #73 to Eliminate The Affordable Care Act... Part 1...

in #politics7 years ago

The Republicans led by Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy are diligently working to take health care away from 33 million Americans. After 8 years and how many, 73 attempts, Lindsey, Bill, Mitch and the rest of the "Sleepy Turtle" gang are throwing together one last ditch effort to repeal Obamacare.

Im pretty sure that most Americans, and a large percentage of the people who will be reading this (if anyone actually does read it) have not made much effort if any, to become more educated about the healthcare debate - and what it truly means for the country. For most people, the health care debate is just another bullshit Democrat and Republican battle, and they could care less who wins.

Considering it's 18% of our economy - the entire country should care.

Depending on who you supported in the last election, you will likely support that side of the debate. Unfortunately for most people, it means they are supporting a policy that is completely against their own self interests, and will eventually cost them more down the road.

All anyone has to do, anyone who really wants to know the truth should do, is ask a couple very simple questions... Who, What, When, Where, and Why...

These questions have a few different parts, but they are simple and straight forward none the less.

  • Who stands to benefit most from repealing the Affordable Care Act ?
  • What legislation is being be put forth to replace the ACA ?
  • When will the effects directly related to the repeal of the ACA be realised ?
  • Where will the Trillions of dollars presently vested in the ACA be redistributed ?
  • Why do the Republican members of congress want so badly to eliminate it, and why do the Democrats oppose them ?

These are the main 5 questions anyone needs to ask.
But here are just a couple more to really educate yourself and bring the point home.

  • Why are they (the republican members of congress) trying to push the repeal bill through without any public hearings ?
  • Why are so many healthcare professionals and providers so opposed to the current bill ?
  • What is the CBO assessment of the replacement bill ?

Supporters of eliminating the ACA are going to say - Obamacare is bad for the economy, and the exchanges are failing as we speak, and its hurting more Americans than its helping, and my favorite, the current system is "unsustainable".

I seriously doubt the entire republican party would have spent the last 8 years trying to get rid of the ACA, unless there were dam good reasons to do so...

Perhaps all of this is irrelevant and none of it matters - Perhaps their good reasons aren't the same as mine... Likely yours neither...

Check back for part 2 and I will answer these questions with actual "FACTS"... Then it's up to you to decide...

Thanks for reading...
