REPORT: Armed Forces of Ukraine Shell Mosque in Donetsk during Eid al-Fitr

The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the Ahat Jami Congregational Mosque in Kuybyshevsky District of Donetsk during the celebration of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr. According to eyewitnesses, four volleys with 82mm mortar shells fell onto the courtyard of the mosque; the dome of the building was damaged.

According to police, the shelling began at about 07:30 in the morning, when the mosque was preparing for an event, the start of which was scheduled for 08:30. Chairman of the urban Muslim community Rashid Bragin said that at the time of the shelling there were about 70 people in the mosque. Nobody was injured.

Earlier in the DPR they reported an aggravation on the front line caused by the arrival of Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky to the Donbass. As a result of mortar attacks from the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, eight houses were damaged in the western part of Donetsk.
