Border control has been a lasting issue in the country for as far back as I can remember.  I actually remember as a child, thinking on issues like tariffs and border control it all went over my head. It was more peaceful times then vs how things are today. The Federal Government shutdown still drags on, affecting millions of families in its wake. Major federal agencies affected by the shutdown include the Departments of Homeland Security, Commerce, Agriculture, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Treasury and the Environmental Protection Agency.

$5.6 Billion or Bust

That's the price that the President has ransomed for the proposed border wall.  Unfortunately no agreements have been made between Congress and The House, which has caused the country to tumble into the longest shutdown in U.S. history.  Presently, no consensus has been reached. What this means for Americans is increased tension between government officials, volatile and unstable markets and a generally lowered quality of life until a resolution has been made. At the moment as it stands, the president wants that money and the democrats aren't budging.

Increased pressure to tackle the big issues

Many Americans are not aware or have not been aware of many of the issues facing our society at the moment. Even myself has been guilty of this at times, feeling bombarded by fake news and negative attention glorified in the national media it proves increasingly difficult to siphon through relevant news especially the important ones.  This has been the longest Fed shutdown in history and verifiable information on this is still few and far between. This is probably one reason why so many of us avoid politics like the plague here, as well as for the sake of maintaining political correctness -- we will give up on or mask certain values in order to save face.  My team agrees that this period in life is a turning point and educating on the technology and our passions but we have begun looking into and keeping tabs on politics as well.  We are reading the news and it is not looking good.  A lot of us writing on Steemit today will be major influencers within our designated fields and with great power comes great responsibility.We will have to be opening up to what's taking place in those hard to reach places like what border control, religion. gun control and taxes.

Misunderstanding leads to miscommunication

The wall is basically an idea. It is a symbol of hope for some to be hoisted up like a victory flag of justice. The wall in itself, is a tool but the actualization of such a wall ever coming into realization may be further from reality now than it ever has been before. No schematics have yet to come forward and no development plans, ideas on execution or strategies.  Also the fact that the wall itself does not actually guarantee resolving any of the underlying issues. Breaking up tension in Washington is so important now but even more importantly we need to come forward with real world solutions that we can use today to solve problems.  Times are changing without a doubt.  Clearly this is a time where key research into the world of politics, religion and philosophy are not only overdue but they are necessary for going forward. 

My purpose today hasn't been to bash the President or beat down the government or citizens but shed light.  We need to shine light in dark times, and honestly the only way we will change this world is by continuing doing exactly what we are doing right now.. Tapping away the strokes of social justice, combating the norms and burning the midnight oil every night until we see even a flicker of change.
