The Cost of Neoliberalism
Found this graphic on /r/latestagecapitalism.
No sources given on this graphic, but this is the math I worked out with sources.
The minimum wage in 1968 was $8.68 (in 2016 dollars)
In 1968-69, an average 4-year university charged $1,117 for tuition, room and board (in today’s dollars)
Let’s assume that tuition is for a single year, so the cost of an average four year degree program would be $4468
Working 40 hours a week at the above wage would earn you $347.2 a week.
You’d earn in 13 weeks, or, about 2-3 months, the cost of four years of tuition, working at minimum wage.
13 weeks with 40 hours a week is 520 hours. So the graphic is off with my data, but not by much. Perhaps they used
different data so whatever.
Fuck capitalism. Communism or bust.
