Politics should not be confused with cheap politics.
The big media follows political events as if it were gossip to entertain us. As a result, we associate and reduce politics to a set of corruption scandals, incompetent candidates or bickering between public figures. So it’s no surprise that we find politics boring and annoying.
This is functional for the regime because sustaining such an image of politics discourages participation and prevents us from dealing with social problems with the complexity they deserve. It is therefore, an ideological tool to maintain the status quo.
Social problems are much more complex than the aptitude or charisma of a politician. We must go beyond the immediate barrier to discover the power that politics really has to improve our society.
