I Grew Up in a Communist System. Here’s What Americans Don’t Understand About Freedom

While there is no such thing as a perfect economic or political system, if you want to live in a free and prosperous society, capitalism works best. There are centuries of evidence that show free markets work best.

It is important to note that "capitalism" in this context means free markets. This is not to be confused with the government corrupted corporatism or crony capitalism. They are not the same thing. The more power that government has, the more opportunity there is for such corruption and the more damage it can do.

Individual freedom can only exist in the context of free-market capitalism. Personal freedom thrives in capitalism, declines in government-regulated economies, and vanishes in communism. Aside from better economic and legislative policies, what America needs is a more intense appreciation for individual freedom and capitalism.
