Workforce crisis in the Philippines, a billions of dollar problem
Unattractive income in the Philippines lead to skilled laborers working abroad: Scientist, Engineer, Farmer, Electrician, Plummer, you name it. Philippines positioning itself to be a developed country could slow it down due to a low incentives and wages.
The Government right now is allocating tens of billion pesos in TESDA to train those unskilled workers, hoping to fill workers gap in the ongoing infrastructure projects which amount to around 8 trillion pesos budget.
But the good news is within year 2020, fifty percent of labor force would be millennial generation ages 20s to 30s; this will be a game changer in the economy, It's gonna be a reasonable investment hub to those foreign investors and entrepreneurs.
How do you think that unskilled workers, trained into skilled labourers by the government to still work under the government would earn bigger incentives?
Why not the government do itself the favour of increasing incentives and call back its skilled workers that left to other countries to earn better living.
I concur to the initiative anyway but the government is still on a long thing.
Good worker deserves good pay, that's my take.
The government actually cut taxes to those at the bottom of the pyramid, but almost still the same without cutting it.
Bilang isang Pilipino nakakaungkut isipin na yumayaman ang ibang mga lahi sa bansa natin, samantalang tayo pinapaunlad ang bansa na di sariling atin o kaya naman, nagiging alipin tayo sa sarili nating bansa. Kadalasan na ang amo natin ay ibang lahi at tayo lamang ay mga empleyado nila at inuutusan sa sarili nating bansa.
Gustuhin man natin minsan na magtrabaho sa sarili nating bansa at di na mapalayo sa mga mahal natin, peo walang magawa dahil sinasabi ng marami na di sapat ang kikitain nila dito sa Pilipinas. Marahil totoo iyan, peo hanggang kelan tayo aasa at dedepende sa kanila?
Sa palagay koy, maganda ang naidulot at maidudulot pa ng Gobierno natin sa pamamagitan ng Tesda.
Napakagandang paraan para matulungan ang mga kababayan natin na umunlad at tumulong din sa pag-unlad ng iba sa sarili nating bansa.
Oo nga, ang mgakabataan ay pag-asa ng bayan.
That is also the reason why our government shifted to the K-12 Curticulum in education. The envisioned goal is to produce competent individuals. But one of the worries that an educator like me has is that, there is a big possibility that these equipped and competent individuals would just abandon their own country who mostly need their help in order to work abroad and to have a good salary just like what you have mentioned. So it is also nice to stress the shift not only in the educational curriculum of the millenials, but also the wage payment system of the country. And to add cherry to the cake, might as well the government would want also to look for the welfare of the labor force by ensuring them good incentives. It is important to take note that without these people who work hard for the prosperity of the country, the economy as well as their renewed vision will become a failure.

This program has its pros and cons. It will definitely help those people in need or the unskilled workers and at the same time some skilled workers will also forced or need to study TESDA since it has a different accreditation. Some countries will only credit or allowed you to work if you are an NCII or NCIII holder.
I recently heard in news ,The Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 is Malasakit, which aims to regain people’s trust in public institutions and cultivate trust among fellow Filipinos. Strategies under Malasakit include promoting awareness of anti-corruption measures, improving the productivity of the public sector, implementing regulatory reforms, increasing access to legal aid, pursuing corrections reform, and promoting culture-sensitive governance and development.
And also tge other is Pagbabago, or inequality-reducing transformation through increasing opportunities for growth of output and income.
These stratigies can help phillpines alot.
Its sad that due to unattractive income labours being forced to leave the country. What ever they earn abroad they will still be away from there families and it won't have such a taste as at the back of there mind they will have the idea what must be happening in the family, is everyone fine there etc. Moreover you could hardly come home maybe only once or twice as year this means you don't celebrate festivals and marriages etc with the family and nor are you with them during sorrows. So its really sad.
However one good point because of this is that the youth will have a job and can earn bread for there families. So it could be good for youth employment.
This is a good idea, helping unskilled workers will really a great help to them but if they won’t increase the salary of skilled workers , the tendency is they were just training people to serve others country. Much better if this program will be accompanied by increasing the salary of filipinos.
that's a dilemma we're facing how to raise the salary, but I think it would be more easier to minimize the cost of living and inflation.

skilled workers also need money to full fill their day to day needs.so , they have to visit abroad.

Only the contractors earn well in the field of construction here in the Philippines. My father works as a foreman and he's not earning that much.

Really its the good work done by the government, helping unskilled to improve their skill so that they can perform a particular task is a perfect thing,such an act will increase the productivity, hope 2020 will be the boost for their economy
