RE: Does Twitter have the authority to ban Trump from posting on their service?

in #politics7 years ago

I think we are dealing with multiple issues in regards to Donald Trump and his twitter account. The first issue is that he has to break the terms of service in a very clear fashion that twitter can defend their position to ban him without fail. The second issue is that he is United States President and whether we want to accept it or not, that comes with a certain level of power over business. Personally, even if you banned his twitter account, he would just start using Facebook or YouTube to get out his crazy messages.

and why not steem?

the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2012 authorized the president to indefinitely detain or otherwise dispose of anyone, American citizen or not, that “substantially supported” our enemies or their “associated forces.”

twitter is exactly what this ndaa was designed to fight. Domestic enemies.

The Section 1021 of the NDAA allows “detention under the law of war without trial until the end of the hostilities” for “a person who was a part of or substantially supported al-Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces.”
