The double edge to the 2nd amendment..

So I should make this clear right off the bat; I’m not an American I am Canadian. If an American wants me to stfu I will gladly so because it’s only an opinion.

I’m chiming into gun laws and nobody has to worry because I’m more moderate than some, also a little more consevatic on other things..

My parents are from the States but are no longer American. I am no longer American, and it’s not because of guns laws, but more in regards to taxation.

Leaving it at that I have a family history that has suffered from persecution. I would understand why someone would want a weapon to defend them self. I have also a lot of historical knowledge and know that if you had freedoms no other country in the world has had before it deserves defending.

The founding father’s of the United States faced tyranny. What tyranny is, is best left up too debate, but I would think it usually involves those with guns threatening your freedom. You only wished you had guns in that situation, this why the 2nd amendment was put into place (foreign & DOMESTIC). So with that being said it looks as though tyranny can sprout up domestically.

This leads us to a double edged sword. Yes I would love to have an automatic weapon to fend off hoards of blood thirsty (insert your hated group).

But then at the same time laws have made it easier for blood thirsty hoards to get them..

I’m sure the blood is boiling in some patriots so just cool it for a second and keep reading..

I’ll just say this, the second amendment is important, but I will temper my opinion that I don’t believe automatic weapons should be distributed. - Yes maybe with a license and strict control.

Perhaps I am naive but weapons of war should not be in the hands of millions of people who can become disgruntled because they lost a job. In fact many of us in the crypto world know that the economy could sink at any moment. So what happens to angry disgruntled, (insert religion or political affilition), what happens when people on mass lose the freebies by government?

Mix in unemployment with religious ferber and boy is there going to be a boiling kettle. Perhaps this is the natural state pure democracy will create. Eventually haters will arise.

Kinda looks like civil war could happen.

So with that being said yes, I would want to have an automatic weapon to defend myself from masses of those kinds of people. Sounds like the problem is tethered to the solution. Maybe the Genie is out of the bag already and both equate each other out?

All I am saying is that “western freedom” has let us forget what made those freedoms possible. The 2nd amendment wants to have freedom preserved. There is plenty of gun violence in Toronto and other cities (Chicago) which have strong gun laws but plenty of shootings.

Evil people get guns and good people don’t deserve only the police. As the saying goes, the police are only minutes away when seconds count.

I as a human being have the right to protect my life so long as it doesn’t infringe on someone else’s freedom. That means with a gun if it had too.

Do I need an automatic weapon? Well probably not unless I was in the middle of a civil war. Maybe if the street were also filled with hoards of people with the sam weapons. But let’s face it, society would have fallen by then. Unless I had to mow down 10 or more people there shouldnt be a need for it. If there are those kinds of mobs I would have to believe the army/national guard would have to help defend against a domestic threat. Yes also the army could become a domestic threat.. but I do believe in American soldiers patriotism in defending freedom. So in essence you would see a split in the military anyways (civil war).

So in conclusion I believe A) Guns are a right to own and B) Automatic weapons aren’t necessarily the kind of gun I would own.

I would certainly be wary of adults who act like children owning guns either. And we all know there are MANY grown up “children” out there.

In any case, I see gun control coming back into debate after Las Vegas. There will be many crazies who spoil the bunch and keep the debate going. My thoughts and prayers are with the families. The world is just having more and more problems..
