Why the world needs a Donald Trump
Donald Trump is undoubtedly an embarrassment and a liability to the United States. His actions affect not only the United States but also the rest of the world, given the United States’ immense global influence and impact. Pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement and declaring Jerusalem as the Israeli capital by breaking a 70 year old policy are just a few actions by him in the recent months which had or will have an adverse impact all over. So then, why exactly does the world need a leader like Donald Trump?
Donald Trump is a result of religious nationalism. ‘Staunch conservatives’ and ‘American Preservatives’ form over 50% of his voter base. At this point of time we are heading towards a word dominated by right wing leaders and religious conservation snd nationalism of this sort is taking ground in most of the major democracies. India , United Kingdom and Germany are just a few examples of this phenomena taking place. The citizens of these countries despite themselves leaning towards conservative leaders, despise Trump. In all the aforementioned countries, the trust they have on Trump as compared to Obama (on a scale of 100) fell 18 (In India, the trust points of Obama were already scarce), 57 and a ground breaking 75 points. Irrespective of ones political ideology, Donal Trump’s brand of politics and governance can be condemned by all. Dividing people on the basis of religion and colour, discriminating his fellow countrymen and constructing a ‘path to success’ for the Americans that will eventually lead them to doom is something he has repeated over and over again.
However, this same type of politics and governance is being exercised by many other popular world leaders. In India, Narendra Modi’s politics and governance can be seen as an exact copy of Donald Trump’s or vice-versa. It is only a matter of time that these millions of supporters of similar leaders across the globe will realise that they elected world leaders who were not very different to Donald Trump (at least in terms of their policies). This will awaken these millions of people to the similarity in the underlying tones of the policies and politics of Donald Trump and their own leaders. This world needs a Donald Trump so that it does not get another one.
