Money = one eye?
So.. Found another lil occult type thingamajig. Was watching a Mark Passio video probably while I was eating or in between working on things or something.. And.. He made the claim that "Money" really means.. "One eye".
At first I look at the word and I'm thinking..It does have ONE in it..And at the end we have ey which is almost "eye".. So.. I could see it, but I'm not sure I'm convinced.
I listen to that part again, and hear a part a missed where he says "mon" means "one".. And I was confused cause I thought mon meant moon, which it does, though sometimes words have multiple meanings especially in different languages.
I looked it up and mon does mean one, in Greek I think.. Thus we have the word one-ey.. I can't really think of any word that would fit EY better than EYE.. So while I can't prove money means one eye, I think.. It is the most logical conclusion given the etymology and the fascination our occult "people in power" have with solitary eyes.
*Edit.. Just looked up the etymology of "ey" and I got "egg" in old English and "island" in Nordic.
Hmm.. One egg? Or.. One island? Both eggs and islands tend to give me a mental impression similar to an eye If I think about it in the right ways, perhaps their etymology originated along similar lines.. However.. I think we can probably rule out island.
I think eye and egg make the most sense. I could see island as well if I stretch my mental gymnastic metaphor muscles, but.. I think it's eye or egg. Eye still makes the most sense. But, egg could make a good amount of sense too, especially since there is a lot of creative power in money.
Going a lil further.. I also found out that the word money is roughly based on an ancient Roman god/goddess named Moneta. This is also where the word mint is suppose to have come from, and I personally believe this is where the famous painters name "Monet" came from.. I mean it's just one letter off.. Monet=Moneta..
I looked up pictures of Moneta and.. Couldn't find much, though the coins with her face do show just half of her face and just one eye which I find worth noting.
So.. I guess in summary, it's looking to me like it's possible that the word money means "one eye" and is based on an ancient Roman goddess. (PS there were actually at least two different gods/goddesses named Moneta)
Passio describes that as 'Green Language', based on the sound of a word. He also calls it the 'Language of the birds', as a way to hear the correspondence of words with their true meanings by sound.
With money as the main god, or the 'one' god, money then suggests another meaning that can empower it even more: One 'I', and it gets very personal then.
Passio is stern and passionate, but it makes him a good teacher!
Interesting.. Thanks for sharing!
I'm a lil confused about the language of the birds and the green language stuff but I find it really interesting. And yeah! The implications of "one" are pretty significant, it can be about the spiritual power of the individual, all the way up to the energy of "God" or the universe itself, or both! Heh. Could mean more too. Quite a metaphor contained in a lil bit!
And yeah.. I generally like Passio. I disagree with him from time to time, and when I do his personality can be a bit much, lol.. But, in general I agree with him most of the time and I appreciate his efforts.
The green language, as I understand it, is based on the premise that words have great power, and that power partly being that the words, by their sound, are being logged or absorbed by the subconscious mind, and can have effect on things, or perhaps the perception of things.
