Why are we fighting in the Middle East?

The truth is, we will never know the real reason we are over there. The terrorists that we kill over there are not the ones that are committing acts of terrorism in the U.S. We spend trillions in foreign countries, lose countless lives and have to care for seven times as many injured as are killed. Suppose that we had kept those trillions in the U.S. and spent it on repairing infrastructure, wouldn't our economy be in better shape? And think of all the young people who would still be alive and thousands more who wouldn't be gravely injured. Ask yourself who gains when we expand our presence in Afghanistan in an unwinnable war.
