The Best Political Cartoons of World War I
There were some very accurate and absolutely ingenious political cartoons brought about during and because of World War I. I will try to get into some of them and what they exactly mean.
This cartoon represents the fact that people that worked in industries such as shipbuilding were exempt from the draft that occurred. People either had the agree to the National Labor Board or risk being drafted.
This cartoon shows the long change of events that transpired from the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a person of Serbian heritage. As is seen in the bottom left, the small person represents the rather weak ethnic community of Serbia (Both inside the country of Serbian and Inside Austria-Hungary). Right behind them is Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and a lot of alliances and obligations bring the other countries into the war.
Towards the beginning, Theodore Roosevelt wanted to remain neutral in the war. Without passing too many reforms that would help the war effort out, he was in effect bottle necking some the much needed supplies to the allied forces that may have saved more people later on, when the United States joined the war.
The Zimmerman Telegram, which was intercepted, was a telegram in which Germany told Mexico that if they joined the war on Germany's side, Germany may aid Mexico in capturing back some parts of the United States that it somewhat recently lost to the United States. If this telegram was not intercepted, the United States may look very different than what it is today.
This cartoon shows how weak the League of Nations was at actually bringing all of the countries together in order to restore peace and stability. Of course, it affected many more countries than the few that are just shown, along with creating new countries and changing land borders.
I hope you guys enjoyed looking at these political cartoons!
I love how comics have been used in politics over the years. I think television has filled in recently as the primary tool to attempt to shift public opinion. I guess more recently social media has played a huge role.

Thanks! And I highly agree with that!
Just upvoted. Good stuff, hope to see you more often here. Also, fun fact: the word 'underground is the only word that begins and ends with the letters 'und', lol:D
