ENG - Menton is situated on the French Riviera, along the Franco-Italian border, it is nicknamed perle de la France ("Pearl of France").

PL - Menton położone jest na Francuskiej Riwierze, wzdłuż granicy francusko-włoskiej - nazywane też "Perłą Francji".

ENG - Menton with a particular micro-climate is favorable to tangerine, orange and lemon groves, hence one of the town's symbols, the lemon.
Until 1848, Menton was a part of Monaco, and the palace kept the principality solvent by mercilessly taxing the Menton farmers. They rebelled, won independence and later joined France, after a brief stint under the King of Sardinia. Monaco was forced to turn to a casino culture to make up for the lost revenues.

PL - Menton charakteryzuje szczególny mikroklimat korzystny dla mandarynek, pomarańczy i cytryn - stąd jeden z symboli miasta, cytryna.
Do 1848 roku Menton był częścią Monako, a księstwo, bezlitośnie ściągało podatki od rolników z Menton. Zbuntowali się oni, uzyskali niepodległość, a później dołączyli do Francji po krótkim okresie spędzonym pod rządami Króla Sardynii. Monako zostało zaś zmuszone do zmiany w kulturę kasyna, aby nadrobić stracone dochody.
