The Tatra Mountains are located in the Tatra Chain, in the Central Western Carpathians.
The Tatra Mountains are protected by the establishment of the Polish Tatra National Park and the Slovakian Tatra National Park in their area and membership of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO.

Tatry leżą w Łańcuchu Tatrzańskim, w Centralnych Karpatach Zachodnich.
Tatry są objęte ochroną przez ustanowienie na ich obszarze polskiego Tatrzańskiego Parku Narodowego i słowackiego Tatrzańskiego Parku Narodowego oraz przynależności do Światowej Sieci Rezerwatów Biosfery UNESCO.
