Growing The SPL Poker Community

The Steem Poker League was envisioned by @tuck-fheman in order to enjoy poker with his fellow Steemians. We have a good core group of players, and the league is growing everyday. Our members come from all walks of life, but find commonality among Steemit, and poker. We don't care about your sex, your religion, or your politics, although, those topics are pretty fair game in our chat rooms. We care about poker, and an over all good time. After all, life is one big gamble, so why not play it together?!

Getting To Know The "Enemy"

On the poker battlefield, anyone who isn't yourself is considered the enemy. But in reality, we are all family. We may not share the same blood, but at the end of that day, we all share this great planet. And while this planet is massive, it is not large enough to harbor hate or ill will towards others. The best way to open your mind, is to open your heart. And in order to do so, we will bring you a series of genuine/personal interviews of your fellow poker players.

Away From The Table

In our third edition we have one of the most socially active individuals in the SPL community. This guy sums up the word chill like no other. He's always making jokes, and taking tokes. Before your time is up here, you will know him as the guy who goes "ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy".

In our 'get to know the players' interviews, each individual was asked a set of questions, and below are his/hers responses. I have not made any edits, I want you to know the person for who they really are, not for who I think they are...

Bro, somehow I imagine this is how you dress more often than not.

• Tell us a little about yourself -- "Ayyyyyyy I’m Paul and I help people for a living. Feel blessed to have been doing almost damn near ten years now. Every day is different which is epic and I just take one day at a time trying to do the most good I can each day. However, I really didn’t start helping people full-time until about four years ago. Before that, I lived an interesting life you might say. Got a full tuition scholarship to college for academics but never really went to college for the degree. I have spent in total collectively seven years in college studying Finance, Economics, Sales Management, and Entrepreneurship. I learned a bunch about myself, life, business, people, and my life purpose. However, the biggest assets I got from my time in college was the amount of epic people I met. Sure the knowledge is cool but you can learn that shit on the internet these days. After my freshmen year I realized the universe put me in school to meet and connect people. So that’s what I did. I was a part of a fraternity, led business and entrepreneurship groups, and threw freakin RAGERS. (bet you didn’t see that coming haha). I was known at Bowling Green State University for the legendary parties I threw and the different groups of people I would bring together to party together. I still can’t believe how much I drank, how many parties I threw, and how many people I met. That shit for real was lightweight legendary. But I moved on through days rapidly after I raised some money to start my gas delivery business for boats down in North Carolina and have been on this journey every since."

• Why do you like playing poker -- "I like it because it combines people, math, reading people, and having fun. I have been playing poker for about 12 years now. Started when I was 16 sneaking into casino nights at churches and playing tournaments. Then went online and played with my one buddy Jeff my junior year. Ended up winning $500 each one Christmas break and wow did feel like the shit haha. I really like it now because it keeps me on my toes of reading people and figuring out why people do what they do. Its funny how easy it can be eventually to read people playing online if you know what to look for."

• What is you favorite hand in holdem -- "10 9 suited always has been and no idea why. I must have won a huge hand or tourney with it one day in the past but I can’t recall. It always looks so good to play now, so many possibilities haha"

• What is your favorite food -- "Strawberries are my shitttt. I love fruit in general but I could eat them all day."

• Tell us one thing interesting about yourself -- "I smoke weed and save the world. I was a later bloomer to smoking but started my freshmen year in college when I was 18. My best friend at the time smoked 25 blunts a day so I went from zero to hero real quick. And really haven’t stopped since. Maybe a handful of days I haven’t smoked since I was 18. I smoke wherever I go and definitely in places where people say I can’t smoke. I included some videos but I would say Vegas at my dude’s places looking at that view probably was the best place I have smoked. Now on to the saving the world thing. That can wait for another interview.

My brother, I could have nearly guessed some of the answers to the questions above. Your personalty shines through, and speaks to exactly who you are as a person. You hide absolutely nothing, speak the truth, and wear your heart on your sleeve. In my opinion, the world needs more people like you. Keep being yourself, and take over the world with your charisma. Just make sure and let us all know how you plan on saving the earth, there are actually some of us out there who would like to help, and understand where you are coming from. Peace, brother.
