Submitter: @michaelluchies
Loser(s): @iabuse

Hand Breakdown:

With only three players left in the 5 SBD @followbtcnews freeroll, @lebekons raised all-in pre-flop. @iabuse calls, putting him all-in. He turns over aces, giving him a 78.15% chance of doubling up on this hand. The flop gave @lebekons an open-ended straight draw and the river completed it, turning @iabuse’s smile into tears, and crushing his dreams.
Hang in there @iabuse, we stand with you.

Voting Begins Sunday

Is this the Bad Beat of The Week? If you think so, vote on Sunday for “Candidate #3.”

Bad Beat of The Week

The Bad Beat of The Week awards a 2 SBD prize for the loser of the hand AND 1 SBD for the person who first submits the winning screenshot and information about the hand (simply how it played out) to @Michaelluchies on Discord. If multiple people lost in the bad beat hand, the winner of the prize will be the player who started with the best hand pre-flop.
BBOTW candidates will be published during the week. The winner will be determined by a final vote (votes * payout) each Sunday, ending at 5 PM Central during the 50 SBD tournament.

How Can I Win?

Just play and be on the lookout for bad beats. The BBOTW can happen in cash games (ring games) or in tournaments. The higher the stakes, the more consideration a beat will get.

Other Rules

Maximum payout to one player for a BBOTD is 2 SBD, meaning you cannot win for both submitting and being the recipient of the BBOTD. You can submit the bad beat, you would just win for being the loser of the hand.
Each “week” will run from Sunday 5 PM Central to Sunday 5 PM Central, and the winner will be announced that night. Be on the lookout for these posts each week and the final vote posts on Sunday mornings.

Suited connectors are not too bad against overpairs. OE straight draw meant that Lebekons had 8 outs, which he will win roughly in 32% of the pots he plays. Do not forget about backdoors: 99, TT, or two clubs out of 9 on turn and river could have given him the best hand. Leb had approximately 37-ish percent after the flop. I don't think it's really a bad beat. Even if it could look like that when the players showed their hands, it certainly wasn't a bad beat after the flop.

All-in 78 to under 22% is a huge underdog pre-flop and a bad beat. Yes, if they would've gotten it all in after the flop, I agree, it's no longer necessarily a "bad beat," but aces against 910 suited pre-flop all-in is certainly a rough bad beat.
