Micro Stakes Grinding

And a few satellites on top.

Because I very rarely spend money on direct buy-ins. 2x-Shootout satellites do the trick for me; one or two of those and I'm in. Usually, I prefer micro stake grinding, but you might see me in some low buy-in tournaments as well.

Tactics

I avoid turbo tournaments; Poker is safe as long as you know what you're doing, but turbo tournaments are another story. I prefer ten or twelve minute levels, but the vast majority of those knockout tournaments I enjoy the most have 8 minute blind levels. So be it.

What I'm trying to do when a tournament starts is sit back and gather as much information about my opponents as possible. I also set timers in order to be reminded to change my style of play every one or two hours. That makes me hard to "read"; my opponents can't have a clear picture of my style of play, and I manage to deceive them and make it hard for them to gather information about they way I think and make decisions.

Using tracker software helps a lot, and some players might argue that it's necessary to use one, but I disagree. I've had many good runs without any assistance, just by staying focused.

Here's how my session's beginning looks for today.

Most times I avoid multi-table grinding from the beginning, as I've come to realize that it's better to warm up a bit first. However, that was not the case today. I took a break yesterday, so now I feel ready and energized.

Long way to go.

This is a very complex game, and every decision made depends on so many factors. It's a fun hobby (as long as you're not losing money), but multi-table grinding can also be an exhausting process.

Grind at your own risk.

If you want to start playing online poker, I suggest reading a few books first. Never invest more than you can afford to lose, and please keep in mind that gambling is addictive. If you're not a highly disciplined person with some extra funds laying around, then you should pick another form of entertainment.

See you around after I'm done with today's session.
