Pokemon Go and how the blockchain could save it...

in #pokemongo7 years ago

Ok guys, here is my second post. In the first one I introduced myself, feel free to read that so we can have a dialogue, in this one I will be talking about Pokemon Go and how it could be implemented within a blockchain environment.

A lot of people may assume that Pokemon Go is dead but it actually still counts with millions of users worldwide but Niantic has had a lot of trouble with hackers since the app got released back in July of last year. Since its launch the app has been data-mined consistently and “hacked” in order to transform it into a handheld (spoofers) or a game that plays itself (botting). The least harmful of the hacks is the creation of 3rd party tracker but still against TOS. My question is for anybody reading, would making such an app on a blockchain make it potentially unhackable?

Because if that is the case then it would make it a completely different game, potentially speaking. For one the feeling of the VR aspect wouldn’t be affected. Mainly because if you live in a certain region of the world, you would expect to be constrained to that geographic area for long periods of time, unless of course you have the luxury of frequent travel at your disposal.

Secondly, you would retain your sense of wonder because to be honest, the game gets a little boring from time to time but it gets boring faster if you can spoof your location. I don’t know to what degree these details can be fixed because spoofing is basically an issue with GPS technology and how it can be tampered with but it would be great if it was fixed.

Thirdly, I can’t exclude the possibility of monetization. There is value in pretty much everything we do and blockchain game apps should come forward with monetization options, and way to transfer value beyond it.

There is a great discussion to be hand with the future of blockchain apps; I would love to see your thoughts in the comment section below if you will.

Idk how blockchain could avoid the game to be data mined or make impossible spoofing. The best way to counter the bot is a captcha who appear every 30 min once your account get report by player for a week for example. But niantic refused it. Another way was to delete the PvP by gym and only make gym a raid place for PvE, then PvP would be something fun with competition like the old pokemon games were.

Everything is about game design, its impossible to stop the spoofing.
But its possible to make it irrelevant, remove the frustration from it by changing the way you PvP and make the game more PvE coop in real life.

The spoofing issue is very tricky but it appears that the problem is in the OS. And ye, very excited about the new raid features coming soon!! Hope this makes the game better!
