Pokemon Go: A lifestylesteemCreated with Sketch.

It is interesting that I decided the write about Pokemon Go. I was toying with the idea for a while, but didn't get to it. Blogging can be many different things and often it is what is going on with one's life at one particular point. Well if that is the case, I thought, Pokemon Go is a significant part of my family life. So it is easy and relevant for me to write and talk about it. People who knows me personally are quite aware of that.

Pokemon Go is a augmented reality mobile phone game that was published by Niantic for iOS and Android which was released on July 2016, and immediately it was a global success. Actually that is an understatement, it was the most popular mobile game that summer and brought people out to play the game, people who were never gamer.

That is my daughter posing with a legendary bird pokemon named Moltres in front of one of our neighborhood landmark at Rice University campus. This is a picture from August 2017, and I still remember that day vividly, and so is my daughter. So powerful are these memories, especially when you spend them with loved ones.

So our whole family are Pokemon trainers. We do not play at the same capacity, or the same level. But this game is versatile enough that it has a lot for everyone. Oh, and here is the bright side, while living in urban US, I still don't have a pet. I think the only reason I can get away with it is because we have many "digital pets".

For every new set of blog writing there is a trigger. In my case it has when @zord189 asked me for an image to use for my new signature that he was making for me. I chose the pokemon buddy that I have been using for a while, a shiny Gyrados. After that, I thought it is just the right time to start writing about this. Now if you excuse me I got to go outside and catch some Pokemon, organize some raids, meet a bunch of fellow trainers! I promise to follow up with my many Pokemon adventures in near future.

All images are various forms of in-game screenshots and AR images taken by me on my iphone

I just started Pokémoning the beginning of November. It’s been a lot of fun.

Especially now with PVP, it has matured as a featured rich game!

I remember when the game first launched. People in South Korea could not play it since South Korea isn't a big fan of the map system they used and blocked it. Only one part of Korea at the very edge near the border allowed people to play it, Sokcho. People went crazy and planned weekends there, their hotels and motels were booked, busses were packed all to go and catch em' all!

Eventually, the map opened up and OMG it was loads of fun! I stopped playing after a while but this kind of makes me want to play again. Korea is after all very convenient for this kind of game as it is safe to walk pretty much anywhere at any time of day. =)

Wish they could connect a crypto to this and a pokemon market. Extra motivation to get out there. =P

Will install again and check out the latest updates

imagine @actifit somehow can do a collaboration with pokemon go. Wow ppl walking ard to catch pokemon and battle in pvp and be rewarded for being active !

I actually started playing late, in October 2016. I was a big fan of the main series Pokémon game in the Nintendo DS system for the last 20 years. So I was sceptical about the mobile version in the beginning. I thought it was too simplistic and without depth. While that is still true compared to the main series game but what it lacks in depth compensates in the social aspects and exploration! I have been playing Pokémon Go all this time and I thoroughly enjoy it. I highly recommend you play in again and now we can be friends in the game and battle each other from our desks :)

haha gonna catch them all ! it was crazy last year, lots of neighbour, park area became so crowded even at night time to catch the pokemon and also a significant impact on businesses because of all these new traffic. malls are putting out lures 24hrs to get traffic too. game changer mobile game man !

Yes, game changer for sure that summer. Then it slowed down quite a bit. But many hardcore players stayed with it and the game is much better now and showing a revival recently with PVP out and many new features. Especially, in big cities, Singapore for example, it is really big still. World Number 1 player, respected Brandon Tan, lives and plays there!

yeah my bro still playing it since the start. i see still ppl playing it when outside. didnt know the no.1 player is from sg :) thought usually the hardcore one r from US.

Sure, I play it every day with my daughter. I play it lunchtime at work I. Downtown Houston with other office workers. It’s a lifestyle choice. I have lost weight. I walk more than 10K steps a day. Typically 50-60 km a week! I would have never done it otherwise.

wow that's a nice way to bond common interest playing the game together :)

yeah my wife co worker also play it during lunch. another reason to walk out to eat and catch them all.

if you haven't try @actifit maybe u can try since u r clocking 10k easily. or maybe for ya daughter acc haha she can use save up the crypto earned and buy something in game
