SPU poetry contest #4: OVERFLOW
This is my entry to the contest
The prompt
Theme: celebration
Behind the wide smile a frown lies
Of pains not seen by any but the joy heard by all
The journey from zero to hero
As tough as surviving in the desert
When the going gets tough only the tough gets going
Hope we drink to our satisfaction
Still the thirst unquenchable
Only the prize we pursue can quench this undying thirst
As the root of a tree lies underground
Day by day the struggles for the prize we bury
Water like a newly planted seed
So the growth invisible until we spring forth
Like earthquake vibrations everywhere
Overflowing impact felt
The prize no more far-fetched
Closer to our grasp than distance from the nose to the mouth
In the end the journey long but destination reached
A call for celebration i must say
Because the road to success is filled with potholes
And only those who hold on tight get there first
