Poetry dice Challenge week 32 and day 52 of Steemit School 100 days of poetry.

in #poetrydice6 years ago (edited)

The Poetry Dice Challenge is one of the oldest long running contests on steemit.

Initially hosted by @robyneggs it is currently being hosted by Rob's friend and mine @rensoul17.

Those little picture prompt dice are a cool writing tool.

A great way to start writing, or for those dedicated 100 day steemit school poets - keep writing, if you are stuck for words or ideas.

Deceptively playful, it is not always as easy as you think. Those dice have painstakingly tortured words from me in the past.

@rensoul17 has added more challenging options to the Poetry Dice Challenge in the form of optional categories 🎲.

I have missed a solid 10 day stretch of the 100 day challenge, so I am officially out of the running for the jackpot prize.

With the amazing talent and dedication on display, at no point was winning on my mind.

I'm rejoining the challenge with the same intention I started.
• Steemit engagement
• To improve my writing
• To meet cool people
• To support @d-pend's incredible initiative

To those of you who are still going strong-

Well done you are more than halfway there, keep up the great work.

You can do it!

This is my verse for the poetry dice Challenge. @rensoul17 has a particular way about her that challenges me. I try. So I have utilised the dice, the four phrases and the prompt words.

When Immersed no-one can hear you cry, and water hides the tears.

In youth I swam hours a day, some called me a fish. Submerged sometimes I'd scream, as I trailed that pools black line.

I’m in the middle of a good thing, that's what I told myself. Denial delusion all disguised as dedication and epiphany.

In later chapter's I would run, traversing field after field never stopping til I came undone.

My dance a lonely flagellated solo shuffled.

Chasing light upon horizon, end of rainbow dreams I'd never catch.

Ignoring lightning pain that shot like arrows, each footprint placed sealing fate.

Fight or flight instinct I ran, fearful of the stopping freeze. I continued til upon my knees prostrate.

Clouded as I was, all clarity been lost. Could no longer see the woods for all the trees.

The bitterness of lessons leant too late, left a lingering taste upon my palate.

Polydipsia unquenchable, no fountain can erase the after taste, the aftermath.
No volume great replace, retrace replenish or regain, that which was lost stolen and discarded in the game.

I fantasise of help hidden beyond a rainbowed sky, gazing skyward dreaming that this dystopia has a limit.

I imagine I'm a cloud or simple vaporised within it. Stuff of fiction though there's comfort in escaping.

A place in which you’ve got a friend, and friendship counts for something. Akin to characters in books who lives are weaved enmeshed and bring each other meaningful comfort.

Have Dinner With Me? My friend would say, and they would sincerely mean it.
I'd too oblige to socialise I'd not have to explain my limit.

Because in this land beyond the skies, I can do these things and so much more, I'm not this beetle on its back, who can't get off the floor.

So awesome I love it. Thank you for the highlight intro to new comers about the poetry dice. As always extraordinary. Also I am starting a new project which includes interviewing Steemians, your name is on the list. Pleas DM Me in the tribe discord when you get a chance. Been missing you. @girlbeforemirror

I’m in the middle of a good thing, that's what I told myself. Denial delusion all disguised as dedication and epiphany.

We all flounder from time to time . I think a little denial is a sign of a healthy psyche in this regard. The alternative is slow suicide.

A powerful and very poignant write, GBM:)

In this poem I feel a soul spilled on the ground, a soul that reverberates with great inner strength and conviction to continue in the game that raises life. A brave soul that rises, values itself and values what enriches it. Excellent, @girlbeforemirror ... Fortress, warrior!

Glad you had a solid stab at some poems. :-) Great poem!! :-p
