I have looked up to you for so long
All the moments I thought you were
All the moments you might have been
And every moment in-between

Oh, how glorious you looked upon your high horse
Whilst the pheasants in your stable
Were crying in despair at the sight of your hands
That you kept so clean at all times

Your embellished throne of free range taxes
That you saw a fitting gift to self
Of no less friend nor foe
Rendered a comforting fit for you I take it

Tell me, is there a true north to your moral compass
Or does it not matter in your prism of self-righteous enlightenment?
Is there a lighthouse for the ones who;
mercifully seek sanctuary at the mouth of your estuary?

But your heart holds no mercy nor understanding
For those you can not employ in your favor
And Oh, how easily your altar is lit
When all as such is marched in; your sacrificial lambs

The immaculate strength of the bridges
Between what you want, and what you get amazes me
From the foundations you laid atop the hurt and pain
To the backs of very human stepping stone that forms the path across

When I look up at the sky,
It is humbling to know that the stars in the heavens
Are a blanket for the nights of you and I both,
Whilst shooting stars long to lay at your feet.

But I beg you guard your fortress wall
And brace yourself for the
Thunderous storm, roaring with anticipation
That lay in wait.

So that the golden arrow of Paris
Might not strike your heel,
And the sword of Damocles
Might not be strung overhead
