Poetry Dice Entry: "Beginnings"

At first they were just 2,
Too plain and crude to rule
just 2 simple minded fools
Out on freedom's pursuit, willing to recruit
Those who wished to follow suit,

Misconstrued and misunderstood
They'd never set out to wake up the masses,
Unmask the corrupt or become another facet,
But it must come with the territory...
Before long their ideals were under threat
Marked and prone to a siege

But their fire never extinguished,
Their charm was magnetic
And their resolve an accolade in itself,
They had made sure the foundation they laid
Became a safe haven for those they now lead

But with peace comes new conflicts
sure enough it came from within,
And spread like a virus before looked into,
the system was outdated itching for a reboot
Scratch that! everything would be undone,
0 to 100 just as it had all begun
0 to 100 They demanded a new number 1

Once a shade for the bunch
branch by branch
She was now getting disarmed,
The same bridges she'd rebuilt
And fences she helped mend
Were up in arms against her command,
Outnumbered With no where to run
She was done, done and ready to join
Her recently "retired" right hand

Clearly seeing the writing on the wall,
She stood heartbroken by the sight
Of her cruel yet blossomed pupils,
With no spite and ready for her fall
She only longed for her humble beginnings,
Next time she would follow through with her dreams,
Roam the World a free soul
Only beholden to her own volition...
If only that didn't go against her instincts
If only instincts weren't what matured her from her beginnings...
